Hi, I’m Claire!
I’m a Louisville-based visual artist and educator with more than a decade of experience in teaching different art forms and guiding people to make and explore art.
In my own practice, I find meaning as I work through ideas. With Take Shape, I hope participants will be surprised where their ideas take them, and I hope to foster creative problem solving, collaboration, and the simple delight of making something. These workshops create space to allow our ideas, strengths, and creativity to take shape.
My favorite part of teaching is witnessing the spark of creativity. I promote an environment where participants are encouraged to delve into the depths of their imagination, to experiment fearlessly with various mediums, and to uncover the boundless potential within themselves. Through hands-on experiences, the act of making becomes a gateway to self-discovery, empowerment, and limitless creative growth.
As a teaching artist of 10+ years, I have experience designing programs to pair with exhibitions, themes to complement corporate retreats, and seasonal earth-based projects to connect to the land. I teach workshops about natural dye practices, zines and bookmaking, printmaking, and traditional painting & drawing techniques. I have a Master of Fine Arts in Photography & Film from Virginia Commonwealth University (a top-5 fine arts graduate program) and have exhibited my work nationally and abroad. In 2021, I was a COLLIDER Artist-in-Residence at Louisville Free Public Library, and in 2024 I am an Artist-in-Residence at Bernheim Forest in Clermont, Kentucky.
I am a creative thinker! Have a specific idea you’d like facilitated for your group? Let’s create something together!
